The Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) has said the total number of active mobile subscribers reached 210 million in August 2022 from 208 million in July.
The Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, NCC, Prof Umar Danbatta, disclosed this at the NCC Special Day at the 36th Lagos International Trade Fair, organised by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).
Danbatta, who was represented by Director, Consumer Affairs Bureau, Efosa Idehen, also noted that in this new environment, competitiveness of SMEs depended on the ability to leverage new technologies by acquiring necessary skills to do business in an international scale.
The NCC boss emphasised that the steady growth of telecom sector over the years with its pervasive positive impact on all sectors of the economy in terms of increased automation of processes and digital transformation in services delivery has been remarkable. This he said would not have been possible without the telecom’s consumers.
“To sustain the growth, the NCC has continued to create a conducive environment that stimulates robust telecom/broad band infrastructure for improving the quality of service. To help SMEs to transit to becoming ICT driven if we must be digitally competitive on the global stage.
