A higher wage and welfare program have been approved by President Muhammadu Buhari for Nigerian judicial officials.
The president made this announcement on Friday, November 18, at the opening of the Dr. Nabo Graham Douglas Campus at the Nigerian Law School in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Abubakar Malami, SAN, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, who attended the event in Buhari’s place, said the enhanced welfare program for judicial employees and many other initiatives are intended to significantly increase the capacity and independence of the judiciary, which continues to be a pillar of strength and stability for our democracy.
According to Channel Television, he said;
“Let me use this opportunity also to inform you that as part of the effort to enhance the welfare of judicial officers, Mr President has recently approved an enhanced salary and welfare scheme for judicial officers and accordingly directed the Chairman Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Allocation Commission and the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice to promptly commence measures towards the realisation and implementation of these directives.”
