Today, as the sun rises over Anambra State, it also shines upon the life of one of Nigeria’s most admired women — Dr Frances Chukwunonyelum Soludo — who turns 55. The First Lady of Anambra State and wife of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo is being celebrated not just for her birthday, but for a life steeped in service, compassion, intellect, and purpose.

Born on July 31, 1970, in Adazi-Nnukwu, Anaocha Local Government Area, Dr Nonye is the daughter of respected educators, Chief Emmanuel Chukwuma Ezenwanne (Ichie Ochiagha Udo Isuofia) and the late Mrs Gloria Uzoamaka Ezenwanne (Mmiliguluegu). Her upbringing in a disciplined and value-driven home shaped her philosophy of life: that true leadership lies in humility, and greatness is best expressed in service to others.
A Life of Learning and Impact
From her days as a student of Computer Science at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, to earning a Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance at the University of Westminster, London, Dr Nonye displayed a commitment to excellence and social impact. Her pioneering ICT initiative, The Queen’s Computers, became a digital bridge for students, lecturers, and surrounding communities—long before “digital inclusion” became a global catchphrase.
A tech visionary and entrepreneur, she is also the CEO of Royal Foods Nigeria and UK, and founder of the highly regarded wellness platform, Nonye’s Healthy Living. Her mantra, “When diet is wrong, medicine is of no use”, speaks volumes about her preventive approach to health. This lifestyle crusade earned her an Honorary Doctorate in Food & Nutrition from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University and solidified her status as a leader in public health advocacy.
First Lady, Yet First Among Equals

Though she wears the crown of First Lady, Dr Nonye walks with the grace and humility of a servant-leader. Her initiative, Healthy Living with Nonye, has become a transformative platform across Anambra State, promoting nutritional education, maternal and child care, and healthy habits. Through it, she has reached both urban and rural communities with actionable health solutions.
This commitment earned her the prestigious First Lady of the Year (Healthcare & Child Support) award at the 2025 Nigerian Humanitarian Awards, organized by the Humanitarian Achievement and Outreach Foundation. The recognition followed a rigorous nationwide nomination and public voting process, a testament to her unmatched influence in humanitarian work.
She will be officially honoured at a ceremony on August 22, 2025, in Abuja, where she’ll join other notable changemakers in celebrating excellence in service and compassion.
Mother, Mentor, Modern Icon
Married to Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo since December 26, 1992, the couple shares six children—Adaora, Ozonna, Ifeatu, Chinua, Oduko, and Zikora. Beyond her public profile, she remains a devoted wife and mother, raising a family rooted in integrity, faith, and excellence.
Living Legacy
Among the many titles she bears — Osinanwata Mmaba Mma, Mmiliguluegu, Akwaugo Isuofia, Nne-di-Ogo — her most enduring title may yet be “Living Saint,” as described by Daniel Ezeigwe in a moving tribute. Comparing her unassuming charity and heartfelt advocacy to that of Mother Teresa, the piece notes how she quietly lifts communities without seeking the spotlight.
She embodies the biblical truth: “When you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.” Her acts of kindness, often undocumented, ripple through the lives of women, children, and vulnerable populations in Anambra and beyond.
As Nigeria continues to reckon with the need for more ethical, visionary leadership — particularly among women in public life — Dr Nonye stands as a beacon: combining brains and beauty, poise and purpose, tradition and transformation.
In a world where empathy is rare and leadership often misunderstood, Dr Nonye remains a shining example of what it means to live for others. At 55, she has not only enriched her state and nation through advocacy and enterprise but also shown that true power lies in gentle service.
Happy Birthday, Dr Nonye Frances Soludo. Long may you reign with grace and light.
