Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has stated that Nigeria has gotten away with many “stupid things” because of God’s love.

He stated that the government should blame itself for failing to exploit God’s riches.

On Thursday, Obasanjo spoke during the formal launch of The Letterman by Premium Times Editor-in-Chief, Musikilu Mojeed, in Abuja.

The Letterman: Inside the ‘Secret’ Letters of Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo is a 492-page narrative non-fiction book that examines the importance of letter writing in leadership, government, and politics.

It focuses on the former president and his penchant for writing harsh letters to subordinates, superiors, associates, and international celebrities, oblivious to the reactions the letters could elicit.

He bemoaned the fact that the country had failed to live up to expectations. According to him, world leaders conferred with Nigeria before making choices in Africa, perplexed as to how the country had fallen from such great heights.
