A fuel tanker has overturned at the Tincan Liverpool Bridge axis in Apapa, Lagos, causing a dangerous scene as residents rushed to collect the spilled petrol. Videos obtained by SaharaReporters show the tanker lying on its side beneath the bridge, leaking large quantities of highly flammable fuel onto a busy road leading to the Tin Can Island Port, a route notorious for heavy truck traffic and congestion.

Following the accident, dozens of people, including men and women from nearby areas, were seen using buckets, kegs, jerrycans, and other containers to scoop fuel directly from the spill. Some even lay flat on the ground to access the flowing petrol, while others formed queues to maximize collection.

At the time of reporting, there was no visible presence of emergency responders, including the Lagos State Fire Service, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), police, or officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
