Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, will depart Abuja in the early hours of Wednesday, October 8, aboard Royal Air Maroc, as they begin the final phase of preparations for the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.

The team is expected to arrive in Casablanca, Morocco’s industrial and economic hub, where they will set up camp before moving to Rabat for the tournament proper. During their stay in Casablanca, the Flamingos will play two international friendly matches — first against New Zealand on October 10, and then Paraguay on October 14 — as part of their build-up to the competition.

The squad will move into the official FIFA hotel in Rabat on October 15, where all participating teams will be accommodated.

Nigeria has been drawn in Group D alongside Canada, France, and Samoa. The Flamingos will open their campaign against Canada on Sunday, October 19, followed by a clash with France on October 22. Both matches will kick off at 8 p.m. (Nigerian time) at the Football Academy Mohammed VI pitches in Sale. Their final group-stage match against Samoa is scheduled for October 25 at 5 p.m., also in Sale.

Head Coach Bankole Olowookere leads a confident squad into the tournament after an impressive run of 10 preparatory matches, during which they scored 44 goals without conceding any. The team’s dominant form and balanced lineup highlight their determination to surpass their quarter-final finish at the last edition in the Dominican Republic.
