
As part of his administration’s efforts to strengthen community security, the Enugu North Local Government Chairman Dr. Ibenaku Onoh, has donated the first phase of security patrol vehicles to various wards in the council area
Speaking during the presentation on Friday at the Council Headquarters, Dr. Onoh expressed appreciation to everyone present and urged members of the Neighbourhood Watch to exercise caution in discharging their duties.
He advised them not to abuse their positions or allocate to themselves powers they do not have, but to take guidance from the police and work closely with them.
Dr. Onoh announced that professional training would soon be organized to better equip the operatives for effective service. He further assured that in the coming weeks, another batch of vehicles would be distributed until all the 13 wards in Enugu North are covered.

He commended the Neighbourhood Watch for their efforts and encouraged them to sustain their good work.
The Divisional Police Officer of New Haven Police Station, Dr. Chijioke Ogbodo, applauded the chairman for the initiative and urged the security operatives to take their work seriously in order to maintain a crime-free Enugu State.

Chief Security Officer of the LGA, Mr. Emmanuel Onuigbo, also thanked the chairman for prioritizing the safety of the people and pledged that the operatives would not disappoint the administration or the community.
Director of Operations, NSCDC Enugu North, Mrs. Chinyere Ikpa, cautioned the beneficiaries against diverting the vehicles to personal use and advised them to shun hard drugs in order to perform effectively.
Also Speaking, Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP Ochais Emmanuel, warned the Neighbourhood Watch members against taking laws into their own hands by harassing or physically assaulting crime suspects before handing them over to the police.
In his vote of thanks, the chairman of Ward 7, Mr. Daniel Udechukwu, described the gesture as the first of its kind and pledged that his team would continue to uphold the laws of the land in the course of their duties.

The wards that received vehicles in this first phase include Wards 13, 12, 6, 2, 10, 7, and the New Haven Police Station.
