The Executive Chairman of Enugu North Local Government Area, Dr. Ibenaku Harford Onoh, has been named Humanitarian Local Government Chairman of the Year by the Humanitarian Achievement and Outreach Foundation, as part of the 2025 Nigerian Humanitarian Awards & Magazine.
The prestigious award ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday, August 22, 2025, at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, and will celebrate individuals and institutions making significant contributions to humanitarian development and national transformation across Nigeria.
Dr. Onoh was selected for the award in recognition of his people-oriented leadership style and impact-driven projects across Enugu North LGA. His administration has been widely applauded for its consistent commitment to grassroots development, including free medical outreaches, youth and women empowerment initiatives, community cleanups, and inclusive governance that leaves no group behind.
According to the award organizers, Dr. Onoh’s “exceptional approach to local governance—anchored on compassion, innovation, and accountability—has directly improved lives and positioned Enugu North LGA as a model for community-focused leadership in Nigeria.”
Other top awardees for the night include Professor Christopher Imumolen, founder of the PCI Foundation, who will be honoured as Humanitarian Education & Social Impact Champion of the Year, and Kenneth Nwokike Jnr, a tech entrepreneur, set to receive the Award for Visionary Leadership in Financial Innovation and Humanitarian Impact.
The 2025 edition of the awards is themed “Service. Impact. Legacy.” and will feature a red-carpet reception at 5:00 PM, followed by the main ceremony at 6:00 PM. The event promises to be a convergence of Nigeria’s most impactful humanitarians, innovators, and changemakers.
