SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, has come out to clarify why police used tear gas at the #EndSars Memorial. He claimed that the teargas canisters were fired because some Nigerians participating in the memorial walk decided to be lawless and began mounting the toll complex. He claimed that the action threatened the area’s existing law and order, so teargas canisters were fired to disperse them.
He also denied reports that gunshots were fired at the memorial.
