As part of efforts to guarantee the free flow of traffic around the Apongbon axis of Lagos Island, representatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) visited Apongbon and its surroundings.

This comes after the Eko Bridge was repaired in part by the federal government.

On Monday, November 7th, Mr. Bolaji Oreagba, the general manager of LASTMA, led a team of agency enforcers on a working visit to Eko Bridge by Apongbon.

He said it was crucial for drivers, especially those operating commercial buses along the entire Apongbon axis, to reroute their movements and look for alternate routes.

Oreagba asserts that it is urgently necessary to conduct a thorough impact analysis of the partial closure of vehicular traffic from Tinubu Square, Idumota, Martins Street, Balogun, Apongbon, Broad Street, and Nnamdi Azikiwe Street around Lagos Island.

“Our working visits to the entire Apongbon axis were to ensure that the Eko Bridge’s partial closure does not obstruct the free flow of traffic in any way and to find ways of working with relevant stakeholders in monitoring the illegal activities of street traders around the Apongbon area and the entire Lagos Island.”

In the meantime, he cautioned private car owners and commercial bus drivers operating in the Apongbon area against idly parking by the roadside, kerbs, and walkways and obstructing the free flow of traffic.
