Nigeria’s D’Tigers rounded off a flawless group campaign at Afrobasket 2025 with a commanding 101-92 win over Cameroon in Luanda, securing top spot in Group B.
Already assured of a place in the quarter-finals, the Nigerians made sure of finishing first by overpowering a determined Cameroonian side.
The game turned decisively in the second quarter, where D’Tigers outscored Cameroon 32-16 to take a 60-43 lead into halftime.
By the end of the third quarter, Nigeria had stretched their advantage to 86-55 before Cameroon staged a late rally to reduce the margin.
Josh Okogie, Caleb Agada, Stan Okoye, Micheal Mekowulu, Stephen Igbanu, and Ike Nwamu all finished in double figures as D’Tigers wrapped up their third straight win, having earlier defeated Madagascar and defending champions Tunisia.
The result leaves Nigeria with a perfect 3-0 record in Group B, setting up a quarter-final clash against the third-placed team from Group A.
The encounter also evoked memories of the 2009 quarter-final in Libya, when Cameroon shocked Nigeria 84-80.
This time, however, it was the D’Tigers who came out on top, underlining their strong title credentials
