Comfort Emmanson, the passenger at the centre of the recent Ibom Air controversy, has accused a cabin crew member of assaulting and dehumanising her during a flight from Uyo to Lagos.
In a video posted on Instagram days after her release from Kirikiri Prison, Emmanson alleged that the incident began when she struggled to switch off one of her mobile phones despite complying with the airline’s directive. She claimed a flight attendant, identified as Juliana, refused to assist her, and another passenger eventually helped.
Emmanson said the situation escalated after the aircraft landed in Lagos. According to her, Juliana blocked her exit, dragged her by the hair, tore her clothes, and broke her necklace and phone during a scuffle.
“She held me, dragged my frontal hair, my clothes and the gold on my neck. My phone fell and broke in the process,” she said, insisting her only physical reaction was provoked by pain.
She further alleged that after security officers intervened, she was stripped and filmed against her will. “My body was outside. I was trying to cover myself, and they were videoing everything. The trauma is too much,” she said, adding that the circulation of the video has left her stigmatised.
Her father, in a separate video, demanded compensation from Ibom Air, accusing the airline of tarnishing their family’s image. “How can an Ibom Air hostess strip my daughter naked because of a misunderstanding?” he asked.
Emmanson denied being troublesome or unstable and apologised for her reactions during the ordeal, describing the experience as traumatic but also a turning point. “I want to recover fully and move forward with my life,” she said.
Ibom Air has yet to officially respond to her latest claims.
