Awka Rival cults battled on the famed Zik Avenue in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, over the weekend, claiming six lives.
According to accounts, residents of the region fled for safety as the cultists fired sporadically throughout the struggle for control.
Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, acknowledged the occurrence and stated that police patrol in the area and throughout Awka has been increased, and that the situation is being actively followed and that additional developments would be conveyed.
