The decomposing body of the traditional leader, named Oladepo Asaolu, was discovered four days after he vanished from the community. Residents were alarmed when they discovered his rotting body.
According to reports, Asaolu, an Ora-Igbomina native, was the ancient town’s Babaloja and was reported missing on October 5, 2022, after a biker arrived at his house at 5:00 a.m. and transported him to an unknown location.
The accused were detained when Asaolu’s son submitted a missing person case to the police, according to the Command’s spokeswoman, Yemisi Opolola, who verified this in a statement issued yesterday in Osogbo.
According to Opalola, police intelligence and investigation led to the arrest of the commercial motorcyclist who was transporting the missing chief on the day he was last seen.
She claimed that the captured motorcyclist confessed to killing the chief and brought police to the woodland where the victim’s body was dumped.
In addition, the Acting Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the state, Kehinde Adeleke, confirmed the occurrence and stated that the commercial motorcyclist, Sunday Johnson, was a tenant of the deceased who was an elderly landlord.
