Anthony Thomas, a lawyer, was arraigned at Magistrate’s Court 5, Oka, Ondo town, presided over by Magistrate Oluwatoyin Olowokere.
He was accused of stealing N4,775,000 from the sale of a property owned by one Olufemi Adesioye and his family.
According to reports gathered, Adesioye hired Thomas in 2009 to sell his grandfather’s estate in Idishin, Oyo State.
The property was finally sold for N16,000,000, with Thomas allegedly receiving a fee of N1,675,000, leaving a balance of N15,325,000.
Thomas was accused of paying two halves of the money and pocketing the third.
He was charged with one count of stealing. Thomas pleaded not guilty to the accusation and was granted N3m bail with two sureties.
The trial date has been set on January 17, 2023.
