Chinyere Raman, was convicted to ten years in jail by a Federal High Court in Lagos State for trafficking a lady to Libya.

On Friday, Justice Abimbola Awogboro delivered the sentence after convicting her of human trafficking and promoting prostitution.

Raman was charged in 2019 by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Human Trafficking.

She was accused of purchasing the victim for 300,000 Libyan dinars from an unidentified Cameroonian in order to exploit and prostitute her.

The offender was apprehended on her way back from Libya on February 22, 2019, at Muritala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos.

Following her detention, she was charged with two charges of human trafficking and promoting prostitution.

On both charges, the judge sentenced the defendant to five years in jail for each charge.

However, Justice Awogboro decided that the jail terms run concurrently and begin on February 22, 2019, the date the defendant was captured.
