Gunmen murdered some police officers conducting a stop-and-search operation in Umuna, Imo State, on Sunday.
An unnamed source told correspondent on Monday that the fleeing gunmen murdered an Assistant Superintendent of Police and a Police Inspector.
He said that gunmen disguised as military informants rushed the checkpoint in a Hilux truck.
Micheal Abattam, the state police spokesperson, has not responded to a query about the event.
