The arraignment of a Chinese man named Geng Quangrong, who is accused of killing his ex-lover Ummulkhuksum Buhari, has been set for October 4, 2022, by the Kano State High Court, presided over by Justice Sanusi Ma’aji.
According to reports, on Saturday, September 16, 2022, a Chinese man named Quanrong, 47, who lives in Kano’s Nassarawa GRA Quarters, went to the home of his ex-girlfriend Ummukulsum, 23, and fatally stabbed her.
When the case was resumed for arraignment on Thursday, September 29, 2022, Quarong requested an adjournment so that he could contact his counsel to represent him.
The Kano State Attorney General, Musa Lawan, did not object to the defendant’s request to adjourn the case.
Lawan said, “Obviously this case will not go on today without a counsel standing for the defendant. In these circumstances, we apply for a short adjournment to enable the defendant to get a lawyer.”
As a result, Justice Ma’aji postponed the case until October 4, 2022.
