A recent clash on Sunday 25, between the Gombe state police operatives and Kalare boys, has left two persons injured and the entire public in disarray.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Gombe state Police, ASP Mahi Mu’azu Abubakar said, a group of Kalare boys, numbering about 50 from Kwala Street, Jekadafari quarters, armed with machetes, daggers, sticks and other dangerous weapons, blocked the roads linking the central roundabout and terrorised members of the public.”

“On receipt of the distress call, the team moved to the crime scene and made effort to disperse the hooligans with the use of minimal force, but the gang refused to back down, rather resorted to attacks on the team, which prompted the use of additional force on them, and as a result, one of the thugs ( kalare boys) and a female passerby, sustained injuries and are presently receiving treatment at Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe,” he said.

In view of this, Gombe state Commissioner of Police, Ishola Babaita has warned all criminally minded individuals or groups against all forms of hooliganism and thuggery, before, during and after the electioneering period in the State, emphasising that, any erring individual or group will be punished accordingly.
