Head Coach of the Super Eagles B team, Eric Chelle, has unveiled his final 23-man squad for the 8th African Nations Championship (CHAN), scheduled to hold across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda from 2nd to 30th August.
Captain Junior Harrison Nduka headlines the list, joined by key names such as defender Sikiru Alimi and striker Godwin Obaje. The squad also features goalkeeper Ozoemena Ani, defenders Sodiq Ismaila and Stephen Mayo, midfielders Hadi Haruna and Alex Oyowah, and forwards Anas Yusuf and Ijoma Anthony.
The team, which has been in intensive training at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, is scheduled to depart Nigeria for Zanzibar on Thursday evening via Ethiopian Airlines.
To fine-tune preparations, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has organized a second-phase training camp in Zanzibar from July 25 to 31. During this period, the Super Eagles B will play two friendly matches against the Senior National Team of Zanzibar—on Monday, July 28 and Thursday, July 31.
Nigeria, silver medallists in the 2018 edition and bronze medallists in 2014, have been drawn in Group D of the 19-nation tournament. They will face defending champions Senegal, Sudan, and Congo. The first two group matches—against Senegal and Sudan—will be played at the Amman Stadium in Zanzibar, while the final group match against Congo will hold at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
