On Thursday, October 6, 2022, students with visual disabilities from seven schools will gather at The Apostolic Church in Palmgrove, Lagos, to participate in The Bible Society of Nigeria’s annual Bible quiz (BSN).
According to Benjamin Mordi, the BSN’s Manager of Media and Public Relations;
“Two students will represent each of the following participating schools in the 4th edition of the Bible quiz: Bethesda Home for the Blind, Mushin; Nigeria Farmcraft Centre for the Blind; Vocational School for the Blind, Oshodi; Kings College, Obalende; Lagos State Senior Model College, Agbowa-Ikosi; Lagos State Junior Model College, Agbowa-Ikosi; and Federal.
The Bible quiz, which will be chaired by Mrs. Kalango Koko, Founder of Rainbow Foundation, is intended to provide a platform for people with visual impairment to engage with God’s word. The competition winner will receive N100,000 in cash, while the first runner-up will receive N75,000 and the second runner-up will receive N50,000.
According to Mr. Mordi, “aside from organizing the Bible quiz, the BSN also provides Braille Bibles, which cost N50,000, free of charge to any person with visual disabilities who can use it.”
Mr. Mordi asserts that in addition to managing the Bible quiz, the BSN also offers any visually impaired person who can use it a Braille Bible, which costs N50,000, free of charge.
He continued, “The BSN is a non-profit interdenominational Christian organization that publishes, distributes, and raises funds for the Bible work in addition to translating the Bible into Nigerian languages. The group also plans events that encourage people to interact with God’s word in order to change their lives.
“The BSN has already completed translating the entire Bible into 26 Nigerian languages, and work is still being done on another 10 languages.”
