Wolverhampton Wanderers have completed the signing of Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare from Belgian side Genk in a deal worth £23.4 million. The 23-year-old forward has penned a four-year contract at Molineux, with an option to extend for a further year.
Arokodare, who has impressed with his strength, aerial ability, and eye for goal in the Belgian Pro League, becomes the fifth Nigerian player to wear Wolves’ famous gold and black jersey. His arrival is expected to bolster the club’s attacking options as they prepare for the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.
The Lagos-born striker made headlines in Belgium with his consistent performances for Genk, where he scored crucial goals in both league and European competitions. His move to England marks the next big step in his career, and Wolves see him as a key addition to their long-term project under manager Gary O’Neil.
Speaking after completing the transfer, Arokodare expressed his excitement:
“It has always been a dream to play in the Premier League, and I’m grateful to Wolves for giving me this opportunity. I can’t wait to show the fans what I can bring to the team and to give my best every time I step on the pitch.”
Wolves sporting director Matt Hobbs also welcomed the new signing, praising Arokodare’s qualities:
“Tolu is a player we have followed for a long time. His physicality, work rate, and finishing ability make him a perfect fit for the Premier League. We believe he will add real competition and depth to our attack.”
Arokodare follows in the footsteps of other Nigerians who have represented Wolves in the past, including George Ndah, Seyi Olofinjana, Bright Enobakhare, and Dominic Iorfa. His arrival continues the strong tradition of Nigerian players making an impact in the Premier League.
With the deal now confirmed, Wolves fans will be eager to see their new signing in action when the Premier League season kicks off later this month.
