A Federal High Court in Umuahia, Abia State’s capital, has granted N500 million against Federal Government for the rendition of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu.

The fine was awarded by Justice Evelyn Anyadike, sending IPOB members in the court into celebration.

Kanu’s lawyers, led by Aloy Ejimakor, had petitioned the court, accusing the Federal Government of torturing and forcibly transporting the IPOB leader from Kenya to Nigeria.

They were suing the Federal Government for N25 billion in damages.

However, in its judgement on Wednesday, the court awarded N500 million to the Federal Government.

The Federal Government’s counsel was not present in court, but Aloy Ejimakor was, along with several IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu sympathizers.
