‘Elesin Oba: The King’s Horseman,’ the last feature film by late filmmaker Biyi Bandele, will be released in theaters on October 28, 2022.
EbonyLife Films, the production company behind the Netflix original, confirmed this.
According to an EbonyLife announcement, the film would be released in Nigerian theaters from October 28, 2022 through November 4, 2022.
Set in the Oyo Empire, between sunset and sunrise, the king’s horseman, Elesin Oba, must commit ritual suicide to follow his deceased master into the afterlife. His best intentions are derailed by his sexual desires, which leads to catastrophic consequences and ends in a deadly clash with the British rulers of the day.
The film features Odunlade Adekola, Shaffy Bello, Brymo, Deyemi Okanlawon, Omowunmi Dada, Jide Kosoko, Ajoke Silva, Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, and Kevin Ushi amongst others.
