Biyi Bandele, the late Nigerian film director and writer, who died on August 7, has been laid to rest. He was buried in a private ceremony in Lagos state today, September 23.
The prominent novelist, playwright, and filmmaker, passed away at the age of 54.
His daughter Temi shared the news of his passing via Facebook, she wrote
“As Biyi’s Daughter, I am heartbroken to share the sudden and unexpected death of my father, Biyi Bandele, on Sunday, August 7, in Lagos. Biyi was a prodigiously talented writer and film-maker as well as a loyal friend and beloved father”.
Bandele is famous for directing the movie adaptation of Chimamanda Adichie’s classic novel, Half of a Yellow Sun, amongst others. The cause of his death is still unknown.
