Male Students in public secondary schools in Bauchi have taken to the streets in protest against the segregation of boys and girls in mixed secondary schools across state.
Acording to Commissioner for Education Dr. Aliyu Tilde’s statement, the government decided to separate male and female students in public secondary schools due to moral degeneration among students on social media, which has become pervasive in mixed schools.
Dr Aliyu made this known in a news conference on Saturday, September 10th, following the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting at the Government House in the state capital.
The Commissioner stated that the government has chosen to reconsider the 1978 decision that abolished the state’s core educational system, adding that the action would only be taken whenever and wherever it was feasible.
