Three people have been killed in a bandit attack on Uikpam community, Mbabai Council Ward, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
The incident, which occurred late Tuesday, came barely 24 hours after a similar attack claimed three lives in Yelewata, also in Guma LGA.
A community leader and former Guma I State Assembly candidate, Jimmin Geoffrey, told Channels Television on Wednesday that the victims were identified as Akeh Kelvin, Francis Nomsoor, and Iorhemba Ikpanju, an elderly man whose body was discovered in a nearby bush the following morning.
Geoffrey said the attack was carried out by suspected herdsmen, noting that persistent assaults on Guma communities bordering Nasarawa State continue to undermine security efforts. He urged authorities to urgently redeploy security personnel to the area to restore confidence among residents.
The Benue State Police Command has yet to comment on the incident, but Guma Local Government Chairman, Maurice Orwough, confirmed that security forces have been mobilised to the community.
