On Tuesday, lecturers at Imo State University, Owerri, stated that they had not withdrawn from the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ ongoing strike.
In a phone conversation with our correspondent in Owerri, the chairman of ASUU at IMSU, Odinakachukwu Ejiogu, said they were still part of the ASUU’s nationwide strike.
In response to the announcement by the varsity’s Public Relations Officer, Ralph Obinjoku, urging lecturers and students to resume academic activities immediately, Ejiogu stated that the IMSU ASUU chapter was only accountable to the national body.
He stated that the university lecturers would remain on strike until the union’s national body stated otherwise.
