The Nigerian Army has called on residents of the South-East to disregard a circulating threat issued by criminal groups announcing a new sit-at-home order for Thursday, November 20, 2025.
In a statement issued by Lt. Col. Olabisi Ayeni, Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, the 82 Division described the threat as baseless and aimed at instilling fear, disrupting livelihoods, and undermining security gains recorded in the region.
“The South-East is open and secured for business on 20 November 2025 and beyond. Freedom of movement is fully guaranteed,” the statement read. The Army urged residents to go about their lawful activities without fear, assuring that security agencies have put robust measures in place to protect lives, property, and critical infrastructure.
The military also warned criminal elements against attempting to enforce any illegal directive, stressing that security forces, in collaboration with the police and other agencies, would decisively deal with anyone found breaching the law.
Residents were encouraged to remain calm, vigilant, and report suspicious activities. “If you see something, say something,” the Army appealed, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
