Troops from the 8th Division Garrison of the Nigerian Army in Sokoto have neutralised five armed bandits and recovered weapons and motorcycles during a coordinated operation in Sokoto and Zamfara states.
A military source told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the operation, which began on Wednesday, targeted notorious bandit hideouts in Gangara, Makawana, Satiru, Baici, and Kurkusu villages in Isa Local Government Area, Sokoto State. “The swift advance disrupted criminal networks, forcing many to flee while the military reasserted control over the area,” the source said.
The operation extended to Batamna village in Shinkafi LGA, Zamfara State, where soldiers faced heavy resistance. In the ensuing clashes, the troops neutralised five bandits and seized weapons, motorcycles, and Baofeng radios used in criminal activities.
Earlier in December, the 8th Division successfully neutralised bandit kingpins Kachalla Kallamu and Kachalla Na’Allah in Sabon Birnin and Isa LGAs, further weakening criminal networks in Sokoto.
The Special Adviser to Sokoto State Governor Ahmad Aliyu on Security Matters, retired Col. Ahmad Usman, along with other residents, commended the Nigerian Army and security operatives for their continued successes against banditry in the region.
