The crisis shaking the All Progressives Grand Alliance leadership took a new turn on Tuesday, when Edozie Njoku, previously a factional chairman of the party, asked the Independent National Electoral Commission to recognise him as the party’s real national chairman.
Njoku revealed this during a news conference in Abuja in response to a letter issued by retired Supreme Court Justice Mary Peter-Odili to clarify the highest court’s decision on the situation.
He stated that the letter from the retired justice claiming that Victor Oye’s name was incorrectly spelled and named as the party’s chairman had cleared him of the charge that he fabricated the Supreme Court verdict.
Njoku also urged Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo and other party members to intervene and unify the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.
