The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, on Monday, September 26th, has confirmed that, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani’s appointment to the party’s campaign council was not an oversight.

It claimed that his inclusion was based on his personal recognition as a friend to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC standard bearer.

The inclusion of the PDP’s Enugu East senatorial candidate’s name on the 422-member council on Friday( September 23rd) night stirred controversy both inside and outside the party.

Bayo Onanuga, the council’s director of media and publicity, provided clarification on the situation in a statement released on Monday, September 26th, in Abuja, stating;

“The appearance of the name of HE Chimaroke Nnamani, a distinguished senator from Enugu State, was not a mistake.”

Onanuga claimed that the former governor of Enugu’s inclusion on the APC list was due to his support for Tinubu.

The list, which was made public over the weekend, according to the statement, was incomplete.

The statement cited the Secretary of Council, Hon. James Faleke, said that “No name is left out of the lists” and that the list “contains only the directors, deputy directors, secretaries of directorates, and key stakeholders.”

The council also assures our esteemed governors that the names they submitted have not been discarded by the council secretariat.

Some of the governors’ picks for leadership positions have already emerged, while others will do so soon for the various directorates.
