With the arrival of defender Ebube Duru and goalkeeper Francis Uzoho on Wednesday 21, September afternoon, the Super Eagles’ camp at the Marriott Constantine was complete.

Following the injuries to several players, including defender Leon Balogun, left back Duru of Nigeria’s Rivers United was called up. Duru joined the team on Wednesday after arriving back from Liberia, where he advanced to the penultimate round of this year’s CAF Champions League group stage.

The other players who have been sidelined by injuries include the team’s captain Ahmed Musa, forwards Henry Onyekuru and Samuel Chukwueze.

While goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, defender Kevin Akpoguma, midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, and striker Chidera Ejuke are all returning, but midfielder Richard Onyedika and forward Godwin Saviour are making their debuts.

The Super Eagles head coach José Santos Peseiro has allowed a training game against Algeria’s ‘B’ squad on Saturday in order to watch a number of new and returning players in action ahead of the official game against the Fennecs (Algeria’s ‘A’ team) in Oran on Tuesday evening.

The Super Eagles and Fennecs will meet for just the second time in a friendly, with the Super Eagles winning the first encounter in Austria in October 2020 by a goal or two.
