Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has urged security agencies to maintain neutrality and professionalism in the state’s political environment, warning that Osun, the home state of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, must not be turned into a political battleground.

Adeleke gave the charge on Thursday during the decoration of his Aide-de-Camp (ADC), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ahmed Bio Abdulraman, at the Government House, Osogbo.

The ceremony was attended by the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan; the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Igbalawole Sotiyo; the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Leye Adegboyega; and other service chiefs.

Commending the Nigeria Police Force for professionalism, the governor praised the Inspector General of Police and the Osun Command for upholding discipline and due process. He specifically lauded CP Gotan’s leadership for fostering peace and order in the state.

“We should continue to maintain a level playing field. This is the home state of Mr. President. Mr. President belongs to all of us. Osun should not be turned into a battleground,” Adeleke said.

He congratulated DSP Abdulraman on his promotion, describing him as a disciplined and loyal officer who embodies the values of the police force. He also acknowledged the sacrifices of security personnel across the country, noting that the police remain a vital institution for national stability.

In his remarks, Commissioner of Police Gotan congratulated Abdulraman and reminded him that promotion comes with greater responsibilities. He urged him to uphold discipline and professionalism, while reaffirming the command’s commitment to fairness, human rights, and the rule of law.

Gotan further assured the governor of continued efforts to sustain peace and order in the state, commending government support for security operations. He also encouraged officers to emulate Abdulraman’s dedication, describing him as a role model within the force.
