Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has dismissed rumours suggesting he plans to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting he remains a committed member of the PDP both now and in the future.
Adeleke, who serves as Deputy Chairman of the PDP National Convention Organising Committee, gave the assurance shortly after the inaugural meeting of the Accommodation Sub-Committee for the upcoming convention.
He described the speculation about his possible defection as baseless, clarifying that attending social functions organised by APC members does not translate to political alignment.
“Some people say I might be planning to join the APC because I have friends there or have been seen attending their events. I’m a very civilised person. If I have friends in the APC and they invite me to a wedding or social function, I will attend. That doesn’t mean I’m joining them,” Adeleke stated.
He reiterated his commitment to the PDP, noting that the party remains focused on unity and success ahead of its national convention scheduled for October 15 and 16.
“As we speak, I am the Deputy Chairman of our convention, and I also chair the Accommodation Committee. The PDP does not believe in propaganda or endless talk. Our focus is on organisation, unity, and success. By God’s grace, our convention will be a great success, and the PDP will continue to grow from strength to strength,” he added.
Adeleke expressed optimism that the party would overcome its internal challenges and emerge stronger
