On Thursday, September 29, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kebbi State Command, announced that it was in contact with the state’s relevant security agencies in order to support the investigation into the accident that claimed the lives of three police officers and three civilians.

The opinion that a Customs patrol team may have pursued a Carina E vehicle carrying jerry cans of gasoline while traveling at high speed, thereby leading to the accident, has necessitated the Command’s rigorous fact-finding activities; according to a statement signed by Nasiru Manga, the Customs Area Comptroller, Kebbi State Command.

Although Area Command Comptroller Joseph Attah deemed the accident to be extremely unfortunate, the statement claimed that NCS lacked a checkpoint or patrol team on the Birnin Kebbi-Argungu road.

The Kebbi State Area Command of the NCS, following the horrific details of the unfortunate accident that took the lives of fellow countrymen at Jada village on the Birnin Kebbi-Argungu road on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, have expressed deep empathy

“Our hearts and prayers are with the deceased and members of their immediate families, as with any situation where lives are affected.”
