‎Arsenal defender William Saliba has given fans a glimmer of hope regarding his future at the club, revealing that contract extension talks are ongoing and progressing positively.

‎The 24-year-old French international, widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s most consistent centre-backs, has become a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s setup.

Since returning from his loan spell at Marseille, Saliba has cemented his place in Arsenal’s starting XI, forming a formidable partnership with Brazilian defender Gabriel Magalhães, who signed a contract extension earlier this summer.

‎Saliba, whose current deal runs until 2027, was asked about the status of a new contract following Arsenal’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium.

‎“Yeah, hopefully,” he said when asked if he would sign a new deal. “Of course, there is nothing now but there is a good conversation with my agent and the club. Let’s see.”

‎Saliba’s comments suggest that while no agreement has been finalized, both parties are engaged in productive negotiations.

His performances last season were pivotal to Arsenal’s impressive campaign, with the club narrowly missing out on the Premier League title to Manchester City.

‎The Gunners see Saliba as a long-term cornerstone of their defense, and tying him down to a new contract is a top priority for the club hierarchy.

Fans, too, have been vocal about their desire to see the Frenchman stay in North London, praising his composure, physicality, and intelligence on the pitch.

‎With Arsenal looking to build a squad capable of challenging both domestically and in Europe, keeping key players like Saliba will be crucial to their ambitions.
