Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, commissioned the party’s Lagos State Secretariat on Wednesday amid pomp and fanfare. The Secretariat is located on Ikorodu Road in Lagos, along Fadeyi Bus Stop.
Thousands of supporters in red hats gathered at the secretariat, holding party flags and posters, applauded Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State.
The crowd, which included members of the Kwankwasiyya movement, stopped traffic flow along Ikorodu Road for many hours before dispersing.
Kwankwaso told his supporters that the secretariat will safeguard their interests. He expressed his happiness towards the degree of acceptance and asked people to keep peace and order before, during, and after the polls.
Mr Richard Benson, the NNPP Publicity Secretary, stated that many individuals were still defecting from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP into the NNPP.
Benson welcomed the establishment of the NNPP secretariat in the state as a “fresh beginning” in Lagos State politics.
