IPOB has stated that it is not opposed to political rallies in the South-East since IPOB is not interested in Nigerian elections.

The pro-Biafran organisation stated that there is no threat to any political party staging a campaign rally across the South-East on a Monday because the Monday sit-at-home has long been cancelled.

Despite the fact that the group has stated on several occasions that it has cancelled the Monday sit-in it instituted across the region in 2021 to protest the illegal detention of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, the people continue to observe it.

The All Progressives Congress campaign council had previously scheduled campaign activities for its presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to take place on Monday in some parts of the South-East.

According to reports, the APC did not previously consider Monday as a sit-at-home day in some districts of the South-East, prompting it to rearrange its campaign in the region.

However, in a statement sent to the media on Sunday, IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, claimed that no political demonstration in the South-East on Monday is under threat since IPOB had cancelled the “non-existent” sit-at-home in the area.
