The Obi-Datti Media Office, the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, and the African Democratic Party, ADP, have criticised the adoption of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate by a group of Christian and Muslim leaders in the north led by former House Speaker, Yakubu Dogara.
While the Obi-Datti Media Office rejected speculations about the Labour Party’s possibilities in the next 2023 presidential elections as Old Testament politics, the NNPP and ADP stated they were not shocked by Atiku’s adoption by the Dogara group, calling it a sad occurrence.
The Media Office claimed its response was spurred by a comment attributed to Dogara explaining why he and his own Christian group in the North selected the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential nominee, Atiku Abubakar, over the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi.
According to the former speaker’s jaundiced opinion, Obi and the Labour Party will not win the election, and even if they do, they would be unable to govern the system, according to the Media Office in Abuja in a statement published yesterday.
It explained that Dogara has a fundamental right to choose who he supports, and that no one can hold that against him, but that his attempt to inject his Old Testament politics into the system to suit his selfish interests will not help him.
