The Federal High Court in Abuja annulled the All Progressives Grand Alliance governorship primary election held on May 29, 2022, and issued a 14-day deadline for a fresh primary election to be held.
The ruling was issued by Justice Binta Nyako, who presided over the case, in response to a complaint brought by a governorship contender, Chief Chikwe Udensi, disputing the outcome of the primary poll.
After losing the election to Professor Greg Ibe, Udensi filed a lawsuit.
According to facts and witness testimony, Justice Nyako found that the May 29 primary election was defective and plagued by irregularities.
Despite Udensi’s request that the court proclaim him the winner instead of Ibe, the court resorted to an order for a new primary to be conducted.
