Adegboyega Famoodun, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, accused the Peoples Democratic Party of plotting to plunder the state on Friday, November 11th.

This was stated in response to the PDP’s allegations that up to 90 government official vehicles had gone missing and that the state government planned to compensate elected local government chairmen in the state with N10 million each.

“We are aware of their game plan,” the statement said in part. They are laying the groundwork for the state’s plundering. They must understand, however, that there will be no room for any group of political vampires whose understanding of governance is to fleece the state to its marrow to plunder Osun State under any guise.”

“How on earth could the Osun PDP chairman have allowed himself to be linked to the fabricated allegation that Oyetola was trying to pay each of the 30 newly-elected local government council chairmen N10m each amounting to N300m when in actual fact, the number of all the local government council chairmen, including the local council development areas and area offices, is N300m,” Famoodun said.

“Another fallacious lie perpetrated by the PDP against Governor Oyetola was that ‘the governor had previously paid severance allowances to councillors and chairmen when they were less than a month in office,’ when, in fact, the opposite was true.” The PDP’s claim that Governor Oyetola carted away 90 SUVs was diabolic, reckless, absurd, and completely false.

According to the PDP’s Director of Media, Bamiji Oladele, the information it released to the public on the alleged diversion of funds, among other things, by the APC administration came from public-spirited sources both inside and outside the service.

“We issued alerts on last-minute contract awards,” the statement said in part. Our committee now has several records of outrageous awards and payments that are in flagrant violation of due process. The plan to pay off illegally married council chairmen, which we leaked to the public, has been implemented. A first-class bank was used to transfer N10 million to each of the chairmen. We have every record.”
