The largest Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has stated that approximately 18 state governors from various parties gave thrown their weight behind the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the group’s Secretary-General, announced this in a statement on Wednesday, adding that the governors, whose names were withheld, represent various political platforms and are working for the Labour Party’s standard candidate from behind the scene.
This recent development according to him has raised bouts of concern amongst the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and other political groups in the state.
Meanwhile, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, has denied conspiring against Obi
The governor’s statement followed claims that he had directed members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Anambra to campaign against Obi ahead of the elections.
Mr Christian Aburime, Soludo’s Press Secretary, has rejected the accusation in a statement made available to journalists in Awka on Wednesday.
