Former Akwa Ibom State Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mike Igini, stated over the weekend that the electorate’s ability to choose their leaders has been returned.
According to him, the adoption of electronic technology, specifically the Biometric Voter Accreditation System, BVAS, makes election results practically impossible to manipulate.
Igini spoke at the HEDA Resource Centre’s 27th Anti-Corruption Situation Room, or ACSR.
Mr. Olanrewaju Suraju, Chairman of the Human and Environmental Development Agenda, HEDA, also spoke, explaining that resolving Nigeria’s election concerns will solve the country’s development issues.
Meanwhile, a communiqué released at the event’s conclusion emphasised the importance of stakeholders ensuring the integrity of the 2023 elections.
