Many Labour Party members in Ebonyi State have allegedly been injured as a result of an alleged attack on the party’s adherents during a gathering in Okposi, Ohaozara Local Government Area, LGA, of Ebonyi State by gunmen.

The shooters, according to LP, were members of the Southeast Security Outfit’s Ebonyi Command, code-named Ebubeagu.

According to David Ogbonna, the LP House of Assembly candidate for Ohaozara East Constituency, the gunmen fired at the party supporters and caused varied degrees of injury on them.

He said they were headed by the Chairman of Ohaozara Local Government Area, Consider Ajah.

Mr. Ogbonna stated that three people have been verified shot in the legs; one had his femur smashed and was transferred to an Orthopedic Centre.

Mr Consider Ajah, the Chairman of the Local Government Area, however, denied directing an attack on Labour Party supporters.

He did, however, reveal that Ebubeagu authorities went to the location to prevent the crowd from obstructing the road.

However, in response, Ebubeagu Commander Nnanna Friday disputed that Ebubeagu agents were in the region.

Chris Anyanwu, the state police spokesperson, stated that the command was unaware of the occurrence. He agreed to look into it and get back to reporters later.
