Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State and some elderstatemen in the state, Minda Leaders of Thoughts, announced their withdrawal of support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on Tuesday at the Chapel of Grace, Government House, Makurdi, over alleged hate speech and profiling of Benue people.
Ortom accused the PDP candidate of betraying him as Governor and acting against Benue citizens’ interests.
Ortom’s refusal was spurred by Atiku’s purported statements on the recent murders in Benue state by suspected herdsmen.
According to the governor, Atiku is collaborating with Miyetti Allah.
Ortom also claimed that Atiku had bypassed him in the selection of his presidential campaign team.
