Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), on his verified Twitter page, has expressed disappointment with the statements of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar that northerners deserve a President from the region.
Moghalu, who criticized Atiku’s address, encouraged presidential candidates in 2023 to avoid ethnic or other divisive sentimental appeals.
In the now-viral video, Atiku told his audience, which included a sizable proportion of Hausa and Fulani, that they do not need an Igbo or Yoruba as president, but rather “someone from the north.”
