President Bola Tinubu has approved the posting of four ambassador-designates from the list of nominees earlier confirmed by the Senate.
In a statement issued on Thursday night by the presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, the President confirmed the posting of Ambassador Ayodele Oke as Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to France, and Colonel Lateef Are as ambassador-designate to the United States.
The statement also announced the posting of Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu, a former Nigerian envoy to South Korea, as the high commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom. In addition, Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, a former governor of Kebbi State, was approved as ambassador-designate to Turkey, ahead of President Tinubu’s scheduled state visit to the country next week.
President Tinubu has directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to formally notify the governments of the four countries in line with established diplomatic procedures.
Recall that in November 2025, the President forwarded an initial list of ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation, following nearly two years of vacancies at Nigeria’s foreign missions. He later submitted an additional list of 32 nominees.
In December, the Senate confirmed 64 nominees, bringing the total number of confirmed ambassador-designates to 67. Other confirmed nominees include former presidential aide Reno Omokri; former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu; former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode; and former Oyo State First Lady, Fatima Florence Ajimobi, among others.
