President Bola Tinubu has accepted the resignation of the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Dr. Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, amid allegations of certificate forgery.
Nnaji, who was appointed in August 2023, has recently faced controversy over claims that he forged his first degree certificate from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, which he submitted during his ministerial screening before the National Assembly two years ago.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by Presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, the minister tendered his resignation in a letter expressing gratitude to the President for the opportunity to serve the nation.
In his resignation letter, Nnaji said he had been a target of political blackmail and decided to step aside to clear his name.
President Tinubu accepted the resignation, thanked Nnaji for his service to the country, and wished him success in his future endeavours.
