Panic gripped Eruku town in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State on Tuesday evening after terrorists attacked a branch of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), killing three worshippers and abducting several others, including the pastor.

Sources told Reporters that the gunmen invaded the church during a meeting and immediately opened fire, forcing worshippers to flee in different directions. Three members were shot dead on the spot before the attackers seized an unconfirmed number of people.

“The gunmen came in suddenly and started shooting. Three people were killed instantly,” a source said. “They gathered others at gunpoint and marched them into the bush. We still don’t know how many people they took.”

The assailants reportedly escaped through bush paths linking Eruku to neighbouring communities, heightening fear among residents.

Earlier reports indicated that heavily armed terrorists stormed the community through a major entry route, shooting sporadically and causing residents and travellers to scamper for safety. Vehicles were abandoned on the road as people fled into surrounding bushes.

Eyewitnesses said gunfire echoed across parts of the town as the attackers advanced. A traveller who escaped recorded a video while hiding in the bush, pleading for urgent security intervention.

“This is 18-11-2025. On my way back from Federal Poly Bida through the Ilorin road, they started shooting. Everybody has scattered into the bush,” the distressed traveller said. “Please come to our rescue. People have abandoned their vehicles. The community is in chaos.”

The movement of the terrorists across communities in Kwara reportedly continued without resistance, leaving residents fearful and confused.

As of the time of filing this report, the Kwara State Police Command and the state government had not issued any official response to the incident.
